Archery [back to list of ranges and facilities]
The club offers two excellent courses. The line range has the capability
of handling 24 archers simultaneously ranging from 20 to 50 yards. Our archery line
range is open all year to our members for open shooting. Voluntary donations!

Our club offers archers a unique 3-D and 2-D woodswalk with several moving targets.
Targets range from 10 yards up to 70 yards. The woodswalk may be closed in the winter
months due to snow levels on ranges. Open shooting is always available when safety
concerns allow.

The newsletter and Web site notify club members of any special or competition shoots.

All types of bows are allowed and at least one practice station is set up for broadheads.

The archery range is open year round, weather permitting
Muzzle Loading [back to list of ranges
and facilities]
In addition to its other ranges, the club maintains separate ranges
and facilities for its Muzzle Loading fraternity. The firing line is covered and
set up for off-hand competition. We boast a multiple distance range of 25, 50, and
100 yards with both conventional backstops and silhouette capability.

The club also offers an exciting and challenging "woodswalk" with targets
at unknown and varied ranges. We have many target presentations including 2-D targets
and gongers. The woodswalk is restricted to patched round ball rifle, pistol and
trade gun muzzle loaders without exception.

Our schedule is posted in the calendar and in our monthly newsletter.

The club hosts two rendezvous and shooting competitions each year. The Benzie Muzzle
Loaders sponsor two special fun shoots; The April Fools shoot and Turkey shoot with
prizes awarded for both.

Free instruction is available for those members and guests who would like to get
started in muzzle loading. To confirm shooting dates you should call Dan VanHaften.

Please check our calendar for other scheduled shoots.
Pistol [back to list of ranges and facilities]
The pistol range offers open shooting for members and some scheduled
events through the year. CPL classes are also offered. We welcome new members.

The Benzie Sportsman's Club Pistol Range provides a 25 yard range with a Pavilion.
It is normally open to shooting by all BSO-certified club members every day from
10:00 am until dusk. CPL classes are normally available three times a year, in April,
June, and September for all who wish to attend. The cost of the CPL course is $125.00.
For CPL information, scheduling, and availability contact Deb McGraw at (231) 714-3423.

All events staffed by NRA-Certified Range Safety Officers.
Rifle [back to list of ranges and facilities]
The Benzie Sportsman's Club provides its members the free use of
our rifle range. Guests are requested to donate $5.00 for range management. There
are targets at 100, 50, and 25 yards. The firing line contains eight ambidextrous
bench rests inside a pavilion covered with a metal roof. New target stands have been
installed on the range. Users of the range are encouraged to place donations in the
box near the west entrance of the range. All donations will be used exclusively to
improve and to maintain the range.

Open .22 silhouette shoots are held every Thursday evening during the summer beginning
at 5:00 pm.

Each fall the club sponsors "Sight-in Days" program to assist deer hunters
with a free facility to sight in their rifles in a safe environment. Range officers
provide technical assistance and spotting scope service to shooters. Sight-in services
are provided free of charge, but donations to the range are deeply appreciated.

Our rifle range is open to shooting every day from 10:00 am to dusk except during
special events.

All events staffed by NRA-Certified Range Safety Officers.

Skeet [back to list of ranges and facilities]
We hope you can stay awhile and shoot some skeet with us. Don't know how?
There are qualified people who will be more than happy to assist you in this fun
and classical shotgun sport. An open ( choked ) bored skeet gun will help, but it
is not essential. skeet Skeet is good practice for bird hunting, teaching you lead
and speed with any field gun. Even if you are not a hunter, it is a great sport to
"just have fun!"

Size #7 - 1/2 target loads or smaller shot only.

Please wear eye and ear protection.

Range fees for both Skeet and Trap:
- Members: $5.00 per round.
- Non-member guests: $8.00 per round.
The Shotgun Committee will provide help and assistance to any person
requesting it.

Formal instruction is available from our registered NSCA instructor. Contact Mike
or Linda Hartman.

All events staffed by NRA-Certified Range Safety Officers.

Please check our calendar for scheduled shoots and events.
Sporting Clays [back to list of ranges

Take a walk in the wood with your shotgun and shoot our 50 bird automated
course. Our revamped and enlarged sporting clays course has the ambiance of a fall
hunt for grouse, woodcock, teal, rabbits and squirrel. It's fun, good practice. Come
on out and join us. Any field or target repeater shotgun of any gauge is good and
you don't have to be a pro shooter.

Range fees for Sporting Clays:
- Members: $20.00
- Non-member guests: $25.00
The Shotgun Committee will provide help and assistance to any person

Trap [back to list of ranges and facilities]
We shoot trap every Saturday.

Our club has one of the finest trap fields in the area. We have a handicap lane,
and a voice activated system which is up to competitive standards.

Please come out and join fellow trap shooters for a good time. It's another way to
support our great club and make new friends. Exciting things are happening at Benzie
Sportsman's Club. Come out and be a part of it!
